Giovanni Conzo is currently Associate Professor of Surgery - scientific field-MED.18 and Consultant Surgeon at the Division of General Surgery and Oncological Surgery - School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Campania. He accomplished his surgical training at the Second University of Naples. He later attended several training periods at international referral centres for Upper GI-, HPB- , and liver transplantation surgery as well as for laparoscopic surgery. He leads his research largely in the field of digestive pathology and endocrinology, as well as minimally invasive surgery. He has been involved in a number of national and international meeting either as a speaker or moderator, and was also the promoter of countless conferences and training sessions in the field of endocrine and minimally invasive surgery.
His scientific work is based on over 250 papers published in national and international journals, books, monographs and chapters printed on national surgical books. I.F. is > 150 with an Hirsch index of 17.

Dr. Rosa has performed more than 3000 surgical procedures in the fields of Oncological Digestive Surgery (Open and Laparoscopy), Hernia Surgery and Proctology. His fields of Interest include adjuvant and neo-adjuvant therapies, molecular biology in Gastric Cancer Surgery, adjuvant and neo-adjuvant therapies in Rectal Cancer, Pancreatic Surgery, Soft-Tissue Sarcomas, Nutrition in Digestive Surgery, Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GIST), Hernia Surgery, Neoplastic Cachexia and Tumour Growth, Hemodialysis and Nephrology.

Robert Carter III
Research Physiologist, US Army Institute of Surgical Research
Robert Carter III is a Research Physiologist at US Army Institute of Surgical Research, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His research interests/activities have focused on the impact of extreme environments (heat, cold and hemorrhage) on physiological function and human performance. He completed his Ph.D. in physiology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center with Michael Smith, Ph.D. with the thesis, “Thermoregulation and cardiovascular function during recovery from exercise”, with significant data collection in Craig Crandall’s lab at UT Southwestern. After graduate school, he completed his postdoc at USARIEM with Mike Sawka, Ph.D. with a focus on hydration status and thermal physiology. He continues to serve as an Army research physiologist with prior assignments in France, Germany and as the Chief of Tactical Combat Casualty Care Research, Army Institute of Surgical Research. Since 2015, I have served as a Professor (Adjunct) of Emergency Medicine at UTHSC-San Antonio, Texas. Throughout my professional career, I have remained committed to community outreach, biomedical research, teaching and mentoring students, all of which are important activities to the EEP section.
